Background
Sheep farmers in the UK lose over 4 million lambs a year at a
cost to the industry of £125 million. Over
60% of deaths occur in the first week of life and, of those, 50%
are due to starvation or hypothermia.

Colostrum is the single most important factor in ensuring maximum lamb survival. Colostrum
supplies the new born lamb with protection against disease-causing
pathogens and with the energy and nutrients to ensure survival
in those vital first 24 hours.

For
many reasons, a new born lamb may not get sufficient colostrum,
or receive colostrum of a low quality. The latter is only just
being recognised by scientists and researchers, as all colostrums
were previously thought to be of equal quality.

Many ewes
produce insufficient colostrum in terms of quality and/or quantity. SURESTART® is the ideal supplement in these cases.
